JEWELLERY CARE GUIDE AND INFO
At Groovy Jewels, we sell stainless steel jewellery designed to be non-tarnish and kind to your skin - say goodbye to green fingers 👋 However, pieces with gold plating may naturally wear down. This is a natural characteristic of plated jewellery, but with proper care, you can enjoy your pieces as long as possible.
HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR GROOVY JEWELS
- Keep it clean and shiny: Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently wipe your jewellery. This will remove any buildup of oils, dirt or residue and keep it looking its best.
- Be mindful around water: While stainless steel jewellery is water-resistant, we recommend removing gold plated jewellery before swimming, showering or washing your hands to protect the gold plating from fading over time.
-
Avoid chemicals: Keep your jewellery away from perfumes, lotions and other acidic products, as they can cause gold plating to fade more quickly.
-
Store with care: Store your jewellery in a cool, dry place. Ideally in an airtight box or bag (like the pouch provided in all orders). This prevents exposure to moisture that could affect the plating.
WHY DOES GOLD PLATING FADE?
- Gold plating is a thin layer of gold applied to stainless steel. Over time natural wear and exposure to environmental factors (like sweat, water or friction) can cause the plating to gradually rub off. This is not a fault but a natural process. By following the care tips above, you can help slow down this process and keep your jewellery looking brand new!
